The act of creating the website has been extraordinarily time consuming so far… More so than expected! It’s gradually getting quicker because I’ve actually figured out how to use it properly (a process that took far too long haha), but the massive amount of information that needs condensing is still taking time. I think the hardest part about creating the site isn’t making it ‘look pretty’… it’s figuring out what the hell you want to say and teach about the course. Because really, there is SO MUCH. And you can’t say it all! There isn’t the time, and that isn’t the point! Picking out the crucial bits, being discerning and making decisions about what I see as most important in the course is pretty pressuring… Because I don’t want to give the wrong information!
But I guess within this challenge lies a pretty great gift. I’ve noticed I’m essentially teaching myself as I’m creating the site. I’ve actually had to go back into the notes I’ve skipped over or didn’t fully understand (thinkers and theorists am I right) and research the information, collate it all and present it in a way that I can actually wrap my head around. I can’t see the point in dumping a whole lot of information on the website viewers that I don’t even understand myself, so here we are. I know the rubric inside out now, because I’ve had to break it down so many times to understand it and relate it back to the texts and the whole course.
However… Still need to fix the feedback thing because I have no idea how to work it which is a big issue at the moment haha. I also don’t think people are going to even bother with the feedback form so that’ll be interesting to deal with later on…
