In Navigating the Global, composers not only confront the dilemmas of globalisation but also manipulate textual forms and features in response to their times.
Evaluate this statement with reference to TWO prescribed texts and texts of your own choosing. Thoughts? Ideas? Plans? :) Compose a piece of original imaginative writing using the following statement as the start of a character's reflection on an important event in his or her life.
Everywhere seemed the same; my choices were clear. In your response, draw on your knowledge and understanding of Navigating the Global. Sharing is caring! :) "Once i believed in my father and the world had seemed small and old. Now he was gone and I wasn't afraid to love him anymore. And the world seemed limitless."
- Paul Theroux, Mosquito Coast Use all or part of the provided text in a piece of imaginative writing that reflects your understanding of changing realities in Navigating the Global. Thoughts? Ideas? Reactions? There was no going back. A decision had to be made.
Use these sentences as the beginning of a piece of creative writing which demonstrates an understanding of Navigating the Global. Though you must use the sentences, I find this one much easier to adapt to any story as it doesn't dictate a situation or character. On the whole, not too bad! What are your thoughts? :) In too many instances, Hilary reflected, the march to globalisation has also meant marginalisation for some. And that must change.
Write and imaginative response in which you embed this quotation and provide insight into the tension between the empowered and the disempowered. Won't lie, this one threw me a bit! Getting a question like this really reinforces the way in which you have to make sure your imaginative idea is really flexible and able to adapt to 'embed' the quotation, rather than just throwing it in at the start or end of the piece. Share your thoughts! Would you die if you saw this in the HSC?? Compose a piece of imaginative writing which depicts the uncertainties of navigation in a global world.
Starting broad here with this one. Feel free to comment starting points, responses and thoughts! :) The texts in this elective reflect the ways in which composers experiment with ideas and form to grapple with changing reality.
To what extent do TWO prescribed texts and other texts of your own choosing support this view? Example introductions: Navigating the Global: A time when global connections blur the division between old and new, provoking a reconsideration of traditions and values.
To what extent does this statement hold true for TWO of your prescribed texts and TWO texts of your own choosing? How did you guys go in your half yearly exams? What are the areas you need to improve? What went well? My exam introduction: "One aspect of the development of global culture is that it challenges our values by increasing our understanding of what it is to be human; that humans have strengths and limitations." Evaluate this statement.
In your essay, refer to the TWO prescribed texts from this elective AND at least TWO texts of your own choosing. Share your responses below!! :) |
